Hello, nice to meet you.  I would like to invite you to an online festival for the global citizens on Sunday, November 15th, 2020. 

K-Pop bands like BTS and Black Pink took the top spot on the Billboard charts, and the Korean movie Parasite took home four Oscar awards.  As a fan of Korean culture, it makes me happy to see that Hallyuh contents (which includes K-Dramas, Korean cinema, Korean food, and K-pop) are fastly becoming a form of entertainment that the people of the world are happily enjoying together.  And as Korea’s pop culture grows, so does the interest on Korean culture and society.

Despite this increasing popularity of Korean culture, not so many people had the chance to learn about the true history of Korea and the spiritual culture embedded in it, which I believe are the most essential aspects of Korean culture. We may even say this is the true form of Hallyu or the original Korean Wave.

One of the most important memorial days when we talk about Korean culture is the Gaecheonjeol, the National Foundation Day of Korea.
Gaecheonjeol is the day for commemorating the founding of the Baedal state which is the first nation in Korean history. Written accounts tell us that the Emperor Hwanung founded the nation on October 3rd by the lunar calendar about 6,000 years ago. 
One of the founding principles of the Baedal state was ‘Hong-ik-in-gan,’ which refers to a human being who widely benefits the whole world. ‘Hong-ik-in-gan’ is also an ideology for those who seek enlightenment into the Heaven and Earth by recovering the cosmic resplendence within themselves and aspire to dedicate themselves to making the world a brighter place. Korean people have maintained this ideology from generation to generation for thousands of years. 

The world today is going through multiple crises and COVID-19 pandemic is not its biggest problem. The endless greed for materialism in the modern world has brought about a grave imbalance in our society and environment causing the worst level of famine and pollution as international conflicts and inter-racial conflicts ceaselessly continue without finding a real solution. 

2020 World Gaecheon Grand Festival is an international event with an aim to overcome the many global crises including the current pandemic and to bring forth a brighter future for the world. To do this, we’ll learn how to recover the culture of cosmic resplendence which is the primordial culture of human history. Please join us as we sing and dance together with K-pop musicians throughout the event as it livestreams through Zoom and YouTube.

I hope that through this special event about Hallyu, the Korean Wave, many countries in the global society can join our hands together in harmony, in one heart, to overcome the current crises together.

The 3rd of October by the lunar calendar marks the Korean national holiday called Gaecheonjeol, the day for commemorating the founding of Baedal, the first nation in Korean history.
In celebration of the 5917th anniversary of the founding of the Baedal nation, we are holding a grand festival online where all the world’s people can join and learn the true history, culture, and spirit of Korea.
