조선 제25대 왕 철종(재위 1849~1863)의 어진이다. 1861년 31세의 철종을 직접 보고 그린 것으로, 현재 전해지는 어진 중 유일하게 군복을 입은 왕의 모습을 볼 수 있다. 오른손으로 지휘봉인 등채를 움켜쥐고 활쏘기 도구인 깍지를 손가락에 끼고 있으며, 뒤에는 환도를 세워 놓아 왕의 군권을 드러냈다.

This is the Eon of the 25th King Cheoljong of Joseon (reigned 1849~1863). In 1861, the 31-year-old Cheoljong was viewed and painted, and it is the only king in military uniforms among the presently passed down. With his right hand, he grabbed the baton's back and held his archery tool's pods on his fingers, and set up a sword behind him to reveal the king's military power.
