미국 빌보드는 12일(현지시간) “방탄소년단이 지난 5월21일 발표한 싱글 '버터'가 '핫 100' 최신 차트(7월17일 자)에서 1위를 차지, 7주 연속 정상에 올랐다.”고 공식 홈페이지를 통해 전했다.

방탄소년단의 '버터'는 지난 6월5일 '핫 100' 차트에 1위로 첫 진입 한 후 최신 차트까지 7주째 정상을 지켰으며 '디지털 송 세일즈' 차트에서도 진입 첫 주 이래 7주 연속 정상을 지키며 '팝 에어플레이' 차트 10위에 랭크됐다. 

 특히 지난해 12월 '다이너마이트'(Dynamite)로 '팝 에어플레이' 5위를 찍었던 이들은 해당 차트 톱10에 2곡 이상을 올린 최초의 한국 아티스트라는 대기록을 세우며 대중음악사에 또 하나의 이정표를 세우기도 했다. 

보이그룹 방탄소년단 멤버 슈가는 13일 서머 송 '버터'(Butter)로 미국 빌보드 메인 싱글 차트인 '핫 100' 7주 연속 1위 한 것을 기뻐하며 팬 커뮤니티 위버스를 통해 "으아아아 7주라고? 감사합니다 아미"라는 글을 올려 기쁜 마음을 팬들에게 전하기도 했다.

방탄소년단 공식 트위터에도 "정말 믿기지 않는 7주 연속 1위 '버터', 진심으로 감사드립니다"라는 글과 함께 "바통터치, '퍼미션 투 댄스'"라는 태그를 덧붙여 팬들에게 신곡의 흥행을 함께 해달라는 뜻을 전하기도 했다. 

한편 방탄소년단은 지난 9일 '버터'와 신규 트랙 '퍼미션 투 댄스'(Permission to Dance)가 담긴 싱글 CD '버터'를 발매했다. RM은 “감히 얘기하자면 (‘버터’보다) 신곡이 조금 더 좋은 것 같다”고 자신감을 드러냈고, 제이곱은 “이러다 (빌보드 차트에서) 배턴 터치하는 것 아니냐”며 ‘퍼미션 투 댄스’에 대한 기대를 드러내기도 했다.
